A Trip to the Zoo

Last Sunday, I went to the zoo with my parents. We saw many animals there. The monkeys were so cute. They jumped around and played with each other. The lions looked strong and powerful. We also saw beautiful peacocks with their colorful tails. It was a great day. I had a lot of fun at the zoo.

In the North Atlantic, a humpback whale sings—a complex melody of moans, clicks, and trills that can travel for miles, a language of the deep. These songs, unique to each population, are thought to attract mates, coordinate hunts, or connect across vast oceans, a phenomenon that has fascinated marine biologists and poets alike. Singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell even incorporated whale sounds into her music, recognizing their haunting beauty. I’ve listened to a recording of their songs, vibrations thrumming in my chest, and felt a kinship with these gentle giants—reminding us that communication transcends species, and that the ocean’s depths hold harmonies older than human language. The humpback’s song is a call to wonder, urging us to protect the watery world where such magic exists.
